University of Idaho Vandal Esports Lab – Idaho’s Collegiate Leader in Gaming & Community
The University of Idaho Vandal Esports program, launched in fall 2023, has swiftly become the state’s flagship collegiate esports hub blending varsity rigor, club fun, and academic ties in a space students call “family away from home” under director Wayne Ebenroth.
The lab is open to the general public alongside UI students walk-ins welcome with $5 day passes or $50/semester / $75/annual memberships (Mon–Fri 12 PM–4 PM & 8 PM–10 PM for PCs; 12 PM–10 PM for consoles). Saturdays host special events (announced on Discord); Sundays are varsity/JV-only.
Nestled in the Bruce M. Pitman Center basement (Room 040) since fall 2022, the lab packs 30 Lenovo Legion T5 desktops (i7-13700 CPUs, RTX 4070 GPUs, Lenovo Y27-30 monitors), 10 Nintendo Switches, 5 PlayStation 5s, and 3 Xbox Series X consoles balancing open play with reserved team practice/tournament slots.
Vandal Esports fuels varsity and club squads while hosting youth gaming camps, social events, and community outreach, weaving competition with connection in a welcoming, growth-focused arena.
