Ole Miss Esports Club – University of Mississippi’s New Esports Powerhouse

Ole Miss Esports Club is the part of the University of Mississippi’s esports program, it has rocketed from a 2017 student club to a full university-backed force by 2019, now anchored in the Payne Family Esports Facility inside the E.F. Yerby Conference Center. Named for donors Abb and Jennifer Payne, this dedicated arena fuels LANSharks teams with pro setups for national battles, blending recruitment muscle with student growth.

As a university-managed athletic facility, it is open exclusively to current Ole Miss students, with no general public or neighboring community access available.

Around 300 members power squads ranked #3 nationally in League of Legends, top 10 in Rocket League, and top 25 in Omega Strikers—one of nine NACE Division I Pilot Program schools. The Egg Bowl rivalry with Mississippi State and LanShark tournaments amp the stakes, while minors, scholarships, and research weave esports into academics.
