NIU Esports Arena – DeKalb, IL, USA
NIU Esports Arena – Northern Illinois University’s Campus Gaming & Competition Center
NIU Esports Arena, carved into Altgeld Hall Room 100, stands as a dynamic on-campus hub for drop-ins, varsity drills, and streaming sessions—welcoming DeKalb students from noon to 10 PM daily during the academic year. This versatile space blends casual open play with structured team practices in League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant, creating an inviting arena for Huskies to explore gaming’s full spectrum.
As a university-managed facility, it is open exclusively to current NIU students with OneCard swipe access, with no general public or neighboring community entry available.
The program champions inclusivity and balanced habits, drawing in beginners and pros alike to build resilience and camaraderie through play backed by a strict code of conduct that bans toxicity, cheating, or unsecured gear. Swipe your OneCard for entry, leave personal food at the door, and dive into a positive zone where every session sparks growth.
Join the student-led Huskie Gaming club for informal tourneys and hangs, or rep a varsity squad in the Esports Collegiate Conference while finals-week “study hall” resets and mental health breaks keep the vibe supportive. It’s more than matches, it’s where NIU’s digital spirit takes flight.
