EZONE Esports & Gaming – UWL’s Recreation Services Esports Hub

A modern esports space integrated within the campus rec center, EZONE launched in February 2021 inside the Recreational Eagle Center (REC) on UWL’s campus, serving as a dedicated hub for competitive play, casual gaming, and community interaction. Built to meet rising demand, the lounge blends high-performance PC rigs with console, VR, and streaming amenities in a bright, welcoming environment that’s become the region’s only dedicated gaming lounge of its scale.

As part of UWL’s recreation services, EZONE is open to enrolled students with campus rec fees, while the general public and neighboring community can access it via day passes ($8/day) or memberships ($25/month to $145/year), ensuring broad inclusivity beyond campus life.

The facility features 24 Alienware Aurora R12 PCs, 4 console stations (Xbox Series X, PS5, Nintendo Switch), and a selection of Oculus Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 VR headsets, plus a streaming room and lounge viewing area. UWL built EZONE with flexibility in mind—supporting both recreational users and organized competition through sport club leagues and intramural-style tournaments like Rocket League or Super Smash Bros.

EZONE operates Mon–Fri 3 PM–11 PM and Sat–Sun noon–10 PM during academic terms, with access included in campus recreation fees for students; visitors purchase day passes or memberships. Since opening, it has welcomed over 7,600 players, hosting events like tournaments, field trips, and private reservations—with staff support for coordination and policies ensuring inclusivity (under-16 guests supervised, waivers for youth, respectful standards).
