Esports at UGA – University of Georgia’s Thriving Student-Led Gaming Community
Esports at UGA, housed under Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, fuels a massive student club with 2,000+ members since 2015 blending competitive squads, casual events, and social vibes for Bulldogs of all levels. Guided by advisor Professor Sun Joo “Grace” Ahn, the group hosts intercollegiate tourneys like the Eastern Esports Conference Championship (which they founded) and pushes for an on-campus facility through crowdfunding.
As a student club, it is open exclusively to current UGA students, with no dedicated facility or general public/neighboring community access available—operations rely on shared campus spaces and Discord for virtual events.
The club fields teams across multiple titles, competing regionally while building skills in teamwork and leadership—open to beginners via casual nights and in-house game days. With active Discord, Twitch streams, and Instagram hype, it’s a grassroots force driving UGA’s gaming scene toward varsity status.
