WVU Potomac State Esports Arena – Keyser’s Varsity Esports Hub

WVU Potomac State College of West Virginia University in Keyser features a dedicated esports arena—a 450-square-foot state-of-the-art facility with 12 top-of-the-line gaming computers, serving as the home for its varsity esports program since 2019. As part of the college’s athletic offerings, this personalized space for varsity players supports competitive training and matches in titles like Valorant (ECAC champions), Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League, Madden, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty—earning multiple championships in NACE and ECAC leagues.

As a college athletic facility, the arena is open exclusively to current WVU Potomac State students and varsity team members, with no general public or neighboring community access available.

The program emphasizes a “multi-prong” approach, including competitive teams, recreational play, and community outreach to Mineral County youth—led by coaches like Joshua Steger (NACE Madden Coach of the Year) and Jordan Graham. Scholarships are available for recruits, allowing athletes to compete while pursuing degrees in fields like nursing or business. The Catamounts have dominated regionally, with wins like the 2021 ECAC Valorant title, blending mental acuity with collegiate spirit in a small-town setting.
