Crimson Gaming Esports Arena – Utah’s Flagship Varsity Program with Dedicated Lounge & Competitive Teams

Nestled inside the innovative EAE Building (Building 72), the Crimson Gaming Esports Arena anchors the University of Utah’s powerhouse varsity esports program and its vibrant Crimson Gaming community. What began in 2014 as a modest student group has grown into one of the nation’s most dynamic collegiate gaming scenes, rooted in connection, rivalry, and career-ready skills. The arena fuels varsity squads in Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket League, drawing roughly 200 hopefuls to annual tryouts—only about 30 make the cut. At its core: a high-tech lab with 20+ elite gaming PCs loaded with pro-grade peripherals, built for intense practice and live competition.

As a university-managed facility, it is open exclusively to current University of Utah students and program participants, with no general public or neighboring community access available.

More than just a competitive space, it’s a social heartbeat for Utes. The active Discord server is the go-to for new players to link up, squad up, or dive into casual matches, making onboarding seamless and community deep. Beyond the rosters, Crimson Gaming sparks campus-wide energy with Respawn Ready qualifiers, LoL watch parties, and large-scale tournaments—many powered through ties to the national Tespa network. In essence, the Crimson Gaming Esports Arena is a living engine of collegiate gaming, merging varsity excellence, inclusive events, and a passionate network into a standout fixture of Utah’s campus culture.
