Dillard University Esports Lab – HBCU’s New Digital Launchpad for Gaming & Growth

Dillard University Esports Lab is ushering in a bold era of tech and talent on its historic New Orleans campus, blending competitive edge with student empowerment in a space that honors legacy while chasing innovation. Debuting in July 2023 within the Student Union, this $200,000 grant-funded hub backed by CommunityX and Verizon and serves as the base for the Dillard Demons esports club, delivering a sleek setup where Aggies level up skills and stories alike.

As a university-managed student union facility, it is open exclusively to current Dillard students and club members, with no general public or neighboring community access available.

The lab packs high-performance PCs and console stations tailored for squad scrims, solo grinds, and campus tourneys fostering everything from League of Legends clashes to Madden showdowns in a welcoming zone that ties gaming to STEM outreach and leadership. It’s the Demons’ den: a spot where student-led teams test limits, host events, and explore broadcasting or design, all while celebrating HBCU roots.
